Yes, but only with the right setup and code-review discipline. A "bare" AI assistant produces code that looks correct but often breaks Magento standards, DI patterns or plugins. In a deep PHP monolith like Magento, agentic tools that can read layout XML, phtml files and existing tests win - they produce working changes instead of guessing. Lighter autocompleters help with boilerplate but lose the context. In the workshop I teach matching the tool to the task rather than betting everything on one.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is how we feed an AI assistant extra knowledge and rules - e.g. Magento coding standards and patterns.
